Heading for the Holiday Season

It's been a couple of weeks since I have updated; I have been sidetracked by other projects.  At this point I think it is best to start the story in the new year. In the meantime I will continue to post one-panel images because it's good practice and fun!   

Steampunked Muss

I've been teaching myself how to paint/draw digitally. I'm forever trying to improve my drawing skill so that I can get to a level that I can illustrate stories the way I intend. It's a long, slow process but I keep at it. This was done with Manga Studio and Corel Painter. Even now I know there are things I can fix for next time.

I hate that I'm so slow at getting this web comic together, it is going to take me awhile longer.  This week I was distracted by another project, however, it gave me an opportunity to gain some insight into the computer programs I use. I hope to relaunch Kat & Muss in November. Until then I will continue to post a new picture each Sunday / Monday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Canadian Thanksgiving this week and the weather is super warm so I can't complain. Still hard at work on script writing, hope to re-launch shortly.

Working On It:

Sorry no new comic page this week. I'm busy working on a script with a more a continuous story line starting next week. In the meantime here's a picture I drew of  Kat & Muss and colored with Copic markers. Thanks for your patience, I'm leaning a lot as I go along.

Coffee is Good

I don't know about you, but I really need my coffee in the morning. Don't think I could function without it. Sad but true. 

For this page I used a mixture of computer and markers. I'm starting to like this combination. Now if I could just find the time to produce a good story line for Kat and Muss to follow *sigh*  Also just noted that the lightest colors I used are lost in scanning process.

I made this page about a month ago when my computer went on the fritz. I didn't realize how much the computer had become part of my life until it was gone. I suddenly felt so isolated. Ironically, this page was created on computer instead of my usual done by hand.

Book Hog

It happens quite frequently that when I put books on hold at the library, they all come available at the same time.  I suppose I could arrange my holds differently, but I just get so excited when they come in. I'm such a book nerd.

Reading in Public

I did this in honour of August 28th being "International Read Comics in Public Day". In many places the weather wasn't all that friendly to reading outside (thanks Irene). Wherever you were today, I hope you got chance to join in, start a conversation and share the love of reading comics.

Demon Fly Part II

Sorry for the delay in posting. My laptop monitor decided to stop working so I needed to replace it. Then I decided to try doing the comic digitally. I admit the digital version is much clearer than the by hand version, but I enjoy working by hand so it's a tough call. Hopefully I will find a happy medium. This panel is an ode to Kazue Kato's Blue Exorcist, which is currently one of my favorite manga. It's about a student named Rin Okumura who discovers that he is the son of Satan and he has inherited his 'blue flames'.  Blue Exorcist is published by Viz Media. There is also an anime version that is playing on Crunchyroll.

Introducing Kat & Muss: Part I

Welcome to the first page of Kat and Muss. I’m pretty excited to see where it goes, story-wise. I’ve had these characters knocking around for a while now, and I thought I’d give them their own strip. Being still very new at this, I’m not going to make a whole lot of promises on updating until I get a better grip on the process. Needless to say, I will endeavour to update as frequently as possible. The format or style may change a bit until I find what works best.  I hope to have some fun with this and I hope you like it too. Follow Kat and Muss on Twitter and I’ll let you know of updates.
